Lora Malakoff ~ Oil Painting & Sculpture
Lora Malakoff started painting in watercolors at a very young age under the guidance of a local artist in Wrangell, Alaska. Soon she was in love with oil painting and still is to this day. After nearly a decade of study in many mediums, including sculpture and ceramics, she moved to Washington State in her early 20's in pursuit of a career as a graphic designer. Lora attended the Art Institute of Seattle majoring in visual communications, it was there she began her journey with graphic design and marketing. Today she owns and publishes the Seniors Sunset Times, two Washington Coast newspapers, and Living Well resource magazine, where she has truly found her place in the design and marketing world.
Lora resides in Clallam Bay, where she is busy operating the newspapers. It is where she raised her two sons and built her painting and sculpture studios. Art is her passion and she cannot remember NOT painting. Lora is also a noted sculptress and has produced many pieces over the years. Her most well known is a sculpture collaboration with her husband, Kim Malakoff, for the Kurt Cobain Memorial Park in Aberdeen. There are other large outdoor sculptures as well; Peaches on the Beaches, Fluer de Lis and Bella at Westport Winery and Gary the Gargoyle in Clallam Bay.
A popular artist in action, Lora enjoys demonstrating and sharing her techniques in oil painting that she has honed so well through over 40 years of painting in that medium. Her paintings are available for purchase at One of a Kind Gallery in Port Angeles and the Aldergrove Gallery in Aberdeen.
